Results of the second round of support of 2024

At the last session of visions sud est, the Swiss fund's experts decided to support six projects, with a strong emphasis on documentary films. Check at the new granted projects!

At its November session, the experts of the Swiss fund visions sud est have decided to support three fictional and one documentary films in production, as well as two fictional film in post-production, with a total amount of 175'000 Swiss francs:

Winner of the visions sud est Award at Visions du Réel 2024

During this edition of VdR–Industry, the visions sud est Award goes to THE SHADOW OF YOLÜJA by Hanz Rippe Gabriel (COLOMBIA).

The visions sud est Award is a prize offered by the Swiss fund Visions Sud Est (backed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, SDC).

It's CHF 10,000 in cash awarded to the best project from the South (Africa, Latin America and Asia) or from Eastern Europe (according to SDC’s eligibility country list) presented at either the VdR–Pitching, VdR–Work In Progress or VdR–Rough Cut Lab.

At this year's Visions du Réel, the visions sud est Award has been given to a project in development, presented in the framework of VdR–Pitching, THE SHADOW OF YOLÜJA by Hanz Rippe Gabriel (COLOMBIA).

Winners of the Open Doors Grant at the Locarno Film Festival 2023

This year's Open Doors Grant goes to PANTASMA by Gloria Carrión (NICARAGUA), TRES BALAS by Génesis Valenzuela (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC) and DESIDIA by Leandro Grillo (BOLIVIA)

For the second year, Locarno Film Festival dedicated its Open Doors program to Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The Open Doors Grant is a prize offered by the Swiss fund Visions Sud Est (backed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, SDC) together with the City of Bellinzona and Open Doors.

At this year's festival in Locarno, the Open Doors Grant has been given to three projects:

A grant to a value of CHF 25'000 went to PANTASMA by Gloria Carrión, produced by Leonor Zúniga (NICARAGUA)

A grant to a value of CHF 20'000 went to TRES BALAS by Génesis Valenzuela, produced by Wendy P. Espinal (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)

A grant to a value of CHF 5'000 went to DESIDIA by Leandro Grillo, produced by Alejandra Antequera (BOLIVIA)


The Open Doors Grant has a total value of 50’000 Swiss Francs divided into more awards and is funded by three organizations: Open Doors and visions sud est (both supported by the SDC) and the City of Bellinzona. The award is given for development or production of the winning projects – selected among the Open Doors Projects’ Hub.

The Swiss fund visions sud est supports film productions from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe and then promotes supported films in Switzerland. The aim of the fund is to encourage independent film production in countries with low production capacity, by providing financial support directly to producers in the South and East of the world. The idea is for this support to act as a catalyst for local industry. visions sud est is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, headed by FIFF, Festival International du Film de Fribourg, Locarno Film Festival, trigon-film, Visions du Réel and Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, and managed by Visions du Réel, International Film Festival Nyon.
