El hombre congelado
Uruguay
Carolina Campo Lupo
Time seems to have stopped and the work that made us machines becomes the last trait to keep us human. Lost in the middle of the ocean, a military ship carries a group of men that have turned their lives into peril and exhaustion. On their way to Antarctica, these men cross the stormy ocean to face walls of ice and complete their mission. Looking at the coast, facing that eternal ice, we will set off in a poetic journey drawn by the chants of a Russian deacon. Right there, in the storm, any trace of humanity seems to be lost, and the world absorbs and dilutes us along with the snowmelt water.
There is a shift in the meaning ascribed to things; every task these men tackle becomes a fight for survival; every life gesture becomes unavoidable and absolute.
A terrestrial Solaris, a continent in which the rules to the only game we can play are dictated by the environment. Eventually, there is nowhere to escape to, no chance of an oasis.
